ASMG PRODUCTS
The Common Object Information Interoperability Layer (COI2L) is a Policy-Driven Information Processing and Packaging Service that provides software services, service interfaces and information structures needed to implement and automate content sensitive information sharing and safeguarding (ISS). COI2L services enabled the incremental definition of information sharing and safeguarding (ISS) exchange policies and provide for the consistent, repeatable, auditable enforcement of that policy. COI2L embodies the ASMG implementation of the Object Management Groups (OMG) Information Exchange Framework (IEFTM) Information Exchange Packaging and Processing Service (IEPPSTM). The COI2L toolkit is comprised of three licenced products:
COI2L Policy Administration Point (PAP)
The COI2L Policy Administration Point (COI2L PAP) provides user Interface and services that enable users to management the operational characteristics of a COI2L implementation during operations. The PAP provides the ability to tailor COI2L parameters as well as the policies underpinning the exchange agreements being enforced by each instance of COI2L operating within the PAPs domain of influence.
COI2L CORE Services
The COI2L Core services provide package and process data content that are specifically tailored to the recipients needs and authorizations. On request, or in response to a specified event, the Core Services package, format and Route the data content:
Package (aggregate, transform, mark (tag/label) and redact) data elements according to user specified semantic policies ingested at runtime;
Format the data payload and metadata in accordance with the semantics and the data protocols specified in the Information Sharing Agreement (ISA); and
Route the data message (metadate, data and attachments) to the communications channel in accordance with the specified in the Information Sharing Agreement (ISA).
On receipt of a data message or object the core services parse, transform and marshal data elements to the users specified data store. On receipt the Core Services have the ability to trigger the packaging and release of all semantics containing the new data; providing event driven global updates for each specified recipient or group of recipients based on their information needs and authorizations.
The COI2L CORE provides a standard API (See IEF-RA) that enables the PAP or user developed service to manage and administer (e.g., activate, deactivate, configure, extend and import) policies governing information sharing agreement established on each COI2L instance. This ability to manage and administer the COI2L policies ensures that each COI2L instance can be adapted to changes in operational context and need.
COI2L Policy Development Environment
The COI2L Policy Development Environment (PDE) provides an architecture driven process and tools that employ the UMLTM profile specified in the OMG Information Exchange Packaging Policy Vocabulary (IEPPV) to define and implement the policies used by COI2L to govern its information sharing and safeguarding (ISS) environment. The IEPPV is integrated in the OMG Unified Architecture Framework (UAFTM), which aligned the IEPPV with DODAF and NAF: Integrating ISS policies models with other architecture views and viewpoints.
